Recap: Arkansas State vs. Ark-Little Rock

Jonesboro, AR (SportsNetwork.com) - Melvin Johnson III put up a game-high 21 points, as the Arkansas State Red Wolves made easy work of the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans, 77-49, in a Sun Belt Conference clash at the Convocation Center.

Kendrick Washington tallied a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds for ASU (11-7, 4-3 Sun Belt), which snapped a two-game losing streak. Kirk Van Slyke (15 points, eight rebounds) and Ed Townsel (nine points, nine rebounds) were also solid for the hosts

For UALR (10-10, 5-3), Gus Leeper was the only player in double figures with 10 points. Will Neighbour scored just one point on a dreadful 0-of-12 from the field.

Neither team shot greater than 37 percent from the field in the first half, but ASU took a comfortable 38-24 lead at intermission by shooting 14-of-18 from the foul line in the opening 20 minutes.

The Red Wolves improved from the field after halftime to 41.4 percent, while the Trojans regressed to a mere 18.2 percent. ASU's lead swelled to as many as 31 as it cruised to the blowout victory.

ASU owned a 52-39 advantage on the glass and outscored UALR in the paint, 30-22.
