Recap: Ark-Little Rock vs. Texas-Arlington

Little Rock, AR (SportsNetwork.com) - Led by 21 points from Jamel Outler, the Texas-Arlington Mavericks downed the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans, 75-71, in a Sun Belt Conference duel at the Jack Stephens Center.

For the Mavericks (12-14, 7-7 SBC), Brandon Edwards added 17 points and nine rebounds and Reger Dowell chipped in with 15 points.

Josh Hagins led the Trojans (12-15, 7-8) with 21 points, adding six rebounds and five assists, while DeVonte Smith scored 12.

Both squads shot the ball well in the opening period. UTA shot 46.7 percent from the field, including 5-of-13 from 3-point range, as the Mavericks took a 39-36 lead at halftime. UALR hit on 48.3 percent from the field but was not quite as accurate from deep, shooting 3-of-11.

After the break, the Mavericks shot 41.2 percent from the field, but were much more accurate from long range, connecting on 5-of-11 from 3-point distance in the half. The Trojans struggled after intermission, shooting just 30.8 percent including 4-of-17 from beyond the arc. The Mavericks opened the half on an 11-0 run to take control of the game, as they secured the road victory.

UTA outscored UALR 23-12 at the free-throw line. The Trojans had the edge in the paint, outscoring the Mavericks 22-12 down low. They also had the advantage in bench points, 40-13.
