Recap: Ark-Little Rock vs. ULM

Little Rock, AR (SportsNetwork.com) - Tylor Ongwae finished with 15 points and seven rebounds as the ULM Warhawks edged the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans, 66-65, in Sun Belt Conference action at the Stephens Center.

For the Warhawks (10-16, 7-11 SBC), Nick Coppola also scored 15, while R.J. McCray added 11 points and Marvin Williams chipped in with 10 points. With the win, ULM locked up the seventh-seed in next week's conference tournament.

Josh Hagins scored a game-high 18 points to go along with seven assists to pace the Trojans (14-16, 9-9). James White scored 11 and Leroy Isler finished with 10 points and seven boards in the loss. UALR will have to wait for the conclusion of other league games before the team will know its seeding.

ULM shot 43.3 percent from the field in the opening stanza, connecting on 6- of-12 from beyond the arc. Leading by just two, 24-22, with five minutes to play in the half, the Warhawks closed the frame on an 11-2 run to take a 35-24 lead into intermission.UALR struggled from the field in the first half, making just 34.5 percent of its shots, including 3-of-10 from 3-point range.

After the break, both teams caught fire from the floor. The Warhawks shot 56.3 percent, but hit only 1-of-6 from 3-point distance. The Trojans hit on 50 percent of their shots, knocking down 6-of-15 from beyond the arc. After expanding their lead to as many as 16 points, the Warhawks had to withstand a furious comeback attempt by the Trojans. After holding ULM scoreless in the final 3:57 of the game, including four missed free throws, the home team had a chance to win the game at the end, but Hagins missed back-to-back jumpers in the final three seconds.

ULM finished the game with a 15-8 scoring advantage at the free-throw line. The Warhawks also outrebounded the Trojans on the night, 34-29. UALR had a 32-14 edge in bench scoring in the contest.
