Recap: FIU vs. Middle Tennessee

Miami, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Neiko Hunter had a game-high 25 points and nine rebounds as the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders defeated the FIU Golden Panthers, 70-68, in Conference USA play at FIU Arena.

Shawn Jones scored 23 points and also pulled down nine boards for the Blue Raiders (17-7, 7-2 C-USA), winners of five straight.

Jerome Frink paced the Golden Panthers (12-12, 4-5) with 18 points. Dennis Mavin added 15 points, Rakeem Buckles scored 12, and Tymell Murphy finished with 11 points in the loss.

Middle Tennessee led by as many as 11 late in the first half and took a 39-30 lead into the break.

Both teams shot better than 50 percent from the floor in the second stanza, but the Blue Raiders never trailed after halftime thanks to a particularly efficient 59.1-percent effort. Reserve Jaqawn Raymond's only bucket of the game came on a layup with 30 seconds left, which broke a 68-68 tie and accounted for the final margin.

Middle Tennessee took care of business on the boards with a 34-25 rebounding advantage for the game.
