Recap: Arkansas State vs. Troy

Jonesboro, AK (SportsNetwork.com) - Tevin Calhoun poured in a career-high 35 points to lift the Troy Trojans to a 98-84 win over the Arkansas State Red Wolves in a Sun Belt conference shootout at the ASU Convocation Center.

Calhoun nailed 11-of-15 shots from the floor, including a 7-of-9 showing from beyond the arc for Troy (5-10, 1-2 Sun Belt), which snapped a two-game slide. Hunter Williams added 24 points, while hitting six shots from 3-point range and Antoine Myers tallied 20 points.

Kirk Van Slyke (27 points) led the way for Arkansas State (9-5, 2-1), which had a four-game winning streak put to an end. Brandon Reed added 23 points and Melvin Johnson III tacked on 17.

Troy went into halftime leading, 54-44, after hitting 57.6 percent from the floor, including 9-of-15 from beyond the arc, in the first half. Arkansas State shot 45.2 percent, but did hit 5-of-13 from 3-point distance.

After the break the Trojans shot above 50 percent once again, which was enough to hold off the Red Wolves, who improved to 53.8 percent shooting themselves, but fell short from 3-point range (15-6).

Arkansas State scored 25 points off of 17 Trojan turnovers. Troy had a 36-24 edge on the boards.
