Recap: Texas-El Paso vs. Fla Atlantic

El Paso, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Marquan Botley connected on a 3-pointer with three seconds to play as the Florida Atlantic Owls upended the Texas-El Paso Miners, 71-69, in a Conference USA clash at the Don Haskins Center.

Botley shot 8-of-14 from the field and finished with 23 points for the Owls (10-15, 5-5 C-USA), who have won back-to-back games. Pablo Bertone followed with 18 points.

Vince Hunter netted 18 points to lead the Miners (18-7, 8-2), whose eight-game winning streak came to an end. John Bohannon and Julian Washburn both chipped in 16 points, while C.J. Cooper had 15.

UTEP struggled in the opening half, shooting 36 percent from the field, while the Owls shot 58.3 percent and got out to a 38-25 halftime advantage.

The Miners turned things around in the second half, improving to 57.7 percent from the floor. They were able to claim a 69-68 lead, their first of the second half, when Cooper capped a 17-3 run with a 3-pointer. The Owls had only 13 seconds to respond, which was enough time for Botley to knock down the game-winner.

UTEP lost despite outscoring FAU, 36-20, in the paint.
