Recap: Troy vs. Louisiana

Troy, AL (SportsNetwork.com) - Shawn Long scored 18 points to lead the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns topped the Troy Trojans 72-59 in a Sun Belt Conference showdown at Trojan Arena.

Long shot 8-of-15 from the floor for the Ragin' Cajuns (12-6, 3-2 Sun Belt), who have won three of their last four games. Elfrid Payton and Xavian Rimmer added 14 and 13 points, respectively.

Kevin Thomas logged a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds for the Trojans (7-11, 2-4), who have lost four of their last six. Tevin Calhoun and Jeff Mullahey contributed 14 and 13 points, respectively.

The Ragin' Cajuns got off to a good start, shooting 48.1 percent from the field in the game's opening half, including 4-of-9 from 3-point range. The Trojans, in turn, struggled at 31.3 percent and went into halftime down 34-25.

In the second half, both teams improved from the floor, with the Cajuns shooting 61.9 percent and the Trojans at 54.2 percent. Louisiana easily put the game out of reach, leading by as many as 14 points inside the final two minutes.

The Trojans hurt their chances at a comeback, hitting just 8-of-18 at the free-throw line and 5-of-17 from beyond the arc in the game.
