Recap: Marshall vs. North Texas

Huntington, WV (SportsNetwork.com) - Jordan Williams registered a double- double with 20 points and 10 rebounds to lift the North Texas Mean Green to an 80-65 win over the Marshall Thundering Herd in a Conference USA matchup at the Cam Henderson Center.

Colin Voss added 16 points and nine rebounds in 23 minutes before fouling out for the Mean Green (10-7, 1-2 C-USA) as they claimed their first-ever C-USA victory. Alzee Williams added 10 points while Chris Jones tallied nine points to go along with eight assists.

Marshall (6-12, 0-3) was led by Kareem Canty, who finished with 26 points and five assists. Ryan Taylor recorded a double-double with 22 points and 14 rebounds.

UNT connected on 53.3 percent of its field goal attempts in the first half en route to a 39-27 halftime lead. The Thundering Herd could not keep up as they hit on only 23.7 percent of their shots from the floor in the opening 20 minutes.

Marshall heated up to make good on 40.7 percent of its field goal tries after the break, but it went just 2-of-10 from beyond the arc in the second period. The Mean Green converted 17-of-27 attempts at the charity stripe in the second stanza to slightly increase their lead before the final buzzer.

UNT outscored the hosts, 44-23, in the paint and also, 16-5, in fast break points.
