Recap: Louisiana vs. Troy

Lafayette, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - Bryant Mbamalu scored 21 points, grabbed five rebounds and recorded four steals as the Louisiana Rajin' Cajuns outlasted the Troy Trojans, 78-63, in a Sun Belt Conference bout at the Cajundome.

Shawn Long netted 15 points and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds for Louisiana (18-9, 9-5 SBC), and Elfrid Payton added another 15 points with seven assist and five boards. The Ragin' Cajuns have won six consecutive contests.

Antoine Myers tallied 14 points to pace Troy (9-16, 4-9), while Kevin Thomas, Hunter Williams and Kelton Ford each added 11 points in the loss. Thomas added nine rebounds to his stat line. The Trojans have lost two of their last three games.

Louisiana hit 48 percent of its field goal tries in the first half, and took a 31-22 lead into the intermission. Troy connected on 31.8 percent of its shots in the frame, and went 3-of-10 from 3-point range.

The Rajin' Cajuns upped their shooting percentage to 59.4 in the second half, despite hitting just 1-of-6 from 3-point distance. The Trojans hit 43.8 percent from the floor in the second, including 4-of-14 from deep.

Louisiana held the advantage in points in the paint, 46-28, and in bench points, 22-13.
