Recap: Middle Tennessee vs. Tulane

Murfreesboro, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Kerry Hammonds scored 18 points and Shawn Jones hung up a double-double as the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders ran over the Tulane Green Wave, 71-44, in a Conference USA bout at the Murphy Center.

Jones finished with 17 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks for Middle Tennessee (18-7, 8-2 C-USA), which has won six straight. Neiko Hunter added 13 points for the winning side.

Jonathan Stark scored 15 points as the only player in double figures for Tulane (13-12, 5-5), which had won back-to-back games entering play.

Although Middle Tennessee shot 33.3 percent from the floor in the first half, it held Tulane to six field goals in the period, claiming a 35-17 edge at halftime.

The Blue Raiders were suffocating on defense once again in the second half, limiting the Green Wave to nine field goals on 36 percent shooting in the frame.

Middle Tennessee had a 24-16 scoring edge in the paint and outrebounded Tulane, 44-34.
