Texas State (8-21) at South Alabama (9-20)

GAME NOTES: A pair of struggling Sun Belt Conference teams meet up when the South Alabama Jaguars host the Texas State Bobcats at the Mitchell Center.

The Jaguars, the last place team in the Sun Belt, enter this game riding a two-game losing streak having lost on Sunday to Louisiana, 102-76. Ken Williams netted 24 points, hitting 5-of-7 from 3-point distance to pace South Alabama, which fell to 3-13 in the Sun Belt and 9-20 overall.

Augustine Rubit contributed 17 points with nine rebounds and four blocked shots, and Barrington Stevens scored 18 points for the Jaguars, who were never in the game, losing for the ninth time in their last 11 games and 15 of 18, overall.

The Bobcats, the second-to-last-place team in the conference, are also sliding. Saturday's 66-55 loss to Georgia State was their third in a row and sixth in seven outing. Joel Wright scored 12 points with seven rebounds to pace Texas State, which fell to 8-21 overall and 4-12 in the conference.

Phil Hawkins contributed 11 points for the Bobcats, whose only win in the last seven games came against South Alabama on Feb. 20 in the first meeting of the season between these two schools.

Texas State won that game 67-66 in overtime when a pair of free throws by Wright in the waning moments of the extra session were enough to push the Bobcats to the rare win.

Wright finished the meeting with 21 points and eight rebounds, although he shot just 7-of-20 from the floor for the Bobcats. Reid Konnen led all scorers with 26 points as he converted 7-of-10 behind the 3-point line, in the first- ever meeting between these two schools.

The Jaguars were paced by leading scorer and rebounder Rubit with 22 points, seven boards and four blocks, while Mychal Ammons logged a double-double consisting of 15 points and 13 rebounds.

Rubit averages 17.1 ppg and 9.2 rpg for the Jaguars, who average just 68.8 ppg as a team.

The Bobcats are led by Wright, who averages only 14.8 ppg.Texas State only averaged 62.1 ppg this season, but defensively yields just over 65 ppg.

In a game between the bottom two teams in the Sun Belt Conference, don't expect any fireworks. Look for the home team to squeak one out, especially considering Texas State's road woes (1-11). If the season ended today, both teams would miss the conference tournament, but the good news is both have a shot to make it if they win out and get some help.
