Recap: Tulsa vs. North Texas

Tulsa, OK (SportsNetwork.com) - James Woodard and D'Andre Wright netted 18 points each as the Tulsa Golden Hurricane completed a 94-63 rout of the North Texas Mean Green in Conference USA action at the Reynolds Center.

Woodard also led Tulsa (10-11, 5-2 C-USA) on the glass with eight rebounds. Rashad Smith came off the bench to add 17 points and six boards.

For the Mean Green (11-10, 2-5), Jordan Williams had 21 points and seven rebounds. Brandan Walton contributed 15 points in just 16 minutes of reserve work while Chris Jones tallied 11 points and six assists. The loss was the third in four games for UNT.

The Golden Hurricane outscored the visitors, 31-14, in the paint and also, 14-2, in second chance points in the opening period en route to a 47-31 halftime lead. UNT shot 46.2 percent from the floor but attempted 10 less field goals than Tulsa in the first half.

The Mean Green were held to 32.4 percent efficiency from the field in the second period. Tulsa converted 12-of-13 shots at the charity stripe to pull away even further after the break.

The Golden Hurricane enjoyed a 43-26 edge in the rebounding battle and made 57.1 percent of its field goal tries in the contest.
