Recap: Northern Ky vs. Texas State

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (SportsNetwork.com) - Kavin Tilbury led the Texas State Bobcats with 14 points as they bested the Northern Kentucky Norse, 70-61, as part of the Cure UCD Classic at Puerto Vallarta International Convention Center.

Tilbury shot 5-of-9 from the field, including 3-of-5 from 3-point range for the Bobcats (2-5). Phil Hawkins and Joel Wright each added 11 points, and Emani Gant tallied eight points and nine rebounds.

Tyler White led the Norse (1-6) with 14 points on 5-of-12 from the floor. He was the only NKU player to crack double figures.

The Bobcats dominated the first half of play, running off to a 42-23 lead at intermission. During that stretch, they shot a confident 60 percent from the field, including 7-of-10 from the perimeter.

Even while the Norse improved to 60 percent field goal shooting in the second half, they were never able to grab the lead and trailed by as many as 21.

Texas State got 29 points off its bench and grabbed 29 rebounds to the Norse's 24. The Bobcats also relied on their perimeter shooting, where they lit it up for 11-of-16.
