Recap: Western Ky vs. Texas State

Bowling Green, KY (SportsNetwork.com) - George Fant scored 21 points and grabbed five rebounds as the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers edged out the Texas State Bobcats, 68-64, in Sun Belt Conference action at E.A. Diddle Arena.

T.J. Price chipped in 13 points for Western Kentucky (15-7, 7-2 SBC), while Caden Dickerson netted 12. O'Karo Akamune scored eight points and brought down a team-best nine rebounds in the win, which was WKU's fifth straight.

Joel Wright netted 18 points on 5-of-14 shooting from the floor for Texas State (6-15, 2-6). Wes Davis chipped in 16 points, hitting 3-of-4 from 3-point distance in the loss. Texas State has lost four of its last five contests.

WKU shot 45.8 percent in the first half, including 4-of-7 from 3-point range, but trailed Texas State at the intermission, 30-27. The Bobcats shot an even 44 percent from the floor in the frame.

Both teams hit 11 field goal attempts in the second half, but the Hilltoppers had the advantage from beyond the 3-point arc (3-1) and from the free-throw line (16-11) that allowed them to pull ahead for the win.

WKU had the edge in points off turnovers, 15-10, and in second chance points, 12-3.
