Recap: Texas State vs. Western Ky

San Marcos, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - George Fant scored 14 points as the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers pulled out a 51-50 victory over the Texas State Bobcats in a Sun Belt Conference brawl at Strahan Coliseum.

T.J. Price added 11 points and Trency Jackson chipped in 10 for Western Kentucky (19-9, 11-4 Sun Belt), which has won three of its last four.

Joel Wright netted 15 points and Emani Gant finished with 10 for Texas State (8-20, 4-11), which has lost five of its last six.

Texas State claimed a 25-22 lead at halftime. The Bobcats only connected on 38.1 percent from the floor in the first period, but Western Kentucky was even worse, hitting on 35 percent.

The Hilltoppers were able to rally past their hosts in the second half, holding the opposition to only six field goals, while improving to 46.4 percent shooting.

Western Kentucky had a slight edge on points in the paint (26-20). Texas State scored 21 points at the free-throw line compared to seven for the Hilltoppers.
