Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Reger Dowell notched 22 points, including the game-winning 3-pointer, lifting the Texas-Arlington Mavericks over the Troy Trojans, 59-56, in a Sun Belt Conference contest at College Park Center.

Dowell shot 8-of-18 from the field, including 5-of-14 from the perimeter, for the Mavericks (8-10, 3-3 SBC), who have won three of their last four games. Jamel Outler scored 10 points and Brandon Edwards grabbed 12 rebounds.

Hunter Williams scored 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting for the Trojans (7-12, 2-5), who have lost three in a row. Jeff Mullahey was the only player to join him in double figures with 12 points.

The Trojans struggled from the field in the opening half, shooting just 30.8 percent. The Mavericks, who were not much better at 36.7 percent, held onto a slim 28-26 lead at halftime.

The second half was just as close with the Mavericks shooting 38.7 percent, just slightly better than their opponent's 37 percent. With 14 seconds left to play, Williams drained a 3-pointer to tie the game at 56, but just nine seconds later, Dowell answered with the winner from beyond the arc.

UTA outscored the visitors 24-14 in the paint and 25-14 in bench scoring during the closely contested battle.
