Recap: Texas-Arlington vs. Western Ky

Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Reger Dowell erupted for 37 points as he helped lead the Mavericks of Texas-Arlington to an 80-73 win over the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers in Sun Belt Conference action at College Park Center.

Dowell converted 10-of-22 shots from the floor and was 15-of-18 at the free- throw line, adding six rebounds and three steals in 34 minutes of work for the Mavericks (13-15, 8-8 SBC) as they posted a second win in three games. Brandon Edwards registered a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds for the hosts as well.

The Hilltoppers (19-10, 11-5) were paced by T.J. Price with 17 points off the bench, followed by fellow reserve Brandon Harris with 14 points, although the latter shot just 2-of-9 from the floor. Starters Trency Jackson, Caden Dickerson and George Fant each tallied 11 points as WKU saw a two-game win streak come to an end.

Of the 14 field goals made by WKU in the first half, eight came from 3-point range, affording the team a 42-32 advantage at the break. UTA converted only 3-of-11 beyond the arc through the first 20 minutes.

In the second half the Hilltoppers fell to only 2-of-12 on the perimeter and made good on just 9-of-18 at the free-throw line, allowing the Mavericks to battle back and take the win at home.

The difference in the game took place at the charity stripe where the Mavs outscored the visitors by a 22-15 margin.
