Recap: UAB vs. Troy

Birmingham, AL (SportsNetwork.com) - C.J. Washington posted a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds as the UAB Blazers coasted to an 81-69 decision over the Troy Trojans in a non-conference matchup at Bartow Arena.

Robert Williams contributed 12 points and eight rebounds for UAB (3-0) while Chad Frazier scored 10 points and handed out seven assists. Fahro Alihodzic also registered a double-double for the Blazers with 10 points and 10 boards.

Kevin Thomas paced Troy (1-2) with 19 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the field and also a pulled down a team-high seven rebounds. Hunter Williams added 14 points, six boards and six assists. Wes Hinton scored 11 points for the Trojans in the loss.

UAB knocked down 53.4 percent of its field goal attempts in the opening 20 minutes of the contest en route to a 40-30 halftime lead. The Trojans fell behind after making only 3-of-11 tries from beyond the arc in the first period.

Troy tried to rally back in the second stanza as it hit on 44.4 percent of its shots from the floor, but converted only 3-of-6 attempts at the free-throw line. The Blazers sank 10-of-11 attempts at the charity stripe after the intermission to collect the 12-point victory.

Although both squads finished with 42 points in the paint, UAB held a dominant, 53-24, edge in the rebounding battle.
