Recap: Tulane vs. Texas-El Paso

New Orleans, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - John Bohannon scored 20 points on 8- of-10 shooting to help his Texas-El Paso Miners coast past the Tulane Green Wave, 72-54, in a Conference USA tilt at Devlin Fieldhouse.

Vince Hunter netted 12 points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds for UTEP (20-7, 10-2 C-USA). C.J. Cooper tallied 12 points and dished out a team-high six assists in the win. The Miners have won two in a row, and 10 of their last 11 games played.

Both Jay Hook and Louis Dabney scored 14 points to pace Tulane (14-13, 6-6). Hook hit a perfect 4-of-4 from 3-point range, and Dabney connected on 6-of-10 from the free-throw line in the loss. The Green Wave have lost two of their last three games.

UTEP connected on 53.8 percent of its field goal attempts in the first half, despite going just 1-of-6 from 3-point range, and took a 32-24 lead at the half. Tulane hit 32.1 percent of its shots from the field in the period.

The Miners increased their shooting in the second half, netting 59.1 percent from the floor, and connected on 13-of-16 from the free-throw line. The Green Wave hit an even 40 percent of their shots, and went 10-of-14 from the charity stripe. UTEP increased its lead by another 10 points in the second frame.

The Miners had the edge in points in the paint, 42-20, and wont the battle in points off turnovers, 11-3.
