Texas-El Paso (21-9) at TX-San Antonio (8-20)

GAME NOTES: The Texas-El Paso Miners attempt to keep pace with the leaders in the Conference-USA standings when they travel to face the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners at the Convocation Center.

UTEP sits at 11-4 in the C-USA, one game behind the leaders Southern Miss, Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee and Tulsa with just this final game to play.

The Miners ended a two-game slide last time out when Matt Willms netted 14 points, grabbed eight rebounds and blocked three shots as UTEP easily coasted past the North Texas Mean Green, 74-54, on Sunday.

C.J. Cooper scored 13 points, and Vince Hunter chipped in 11 with eight rebounds for UTEP, which improved to 21-9 overall.

Julian Washburn scores 12.9 ppg to lead the Miners. Hunter adds 12.8 ppg and John Bohannon records 11.8 ppg and 8.2 rpg for UTEP, which averages 69.9 ppg on 47 percent shooting as a team.

The Roadrunners have struggled all season. The team ends its regular season here and tries to end a four-game slide in the process. They nearly did it on Sunday, but fell 72-70 in overtime to Tulsa.

In a highly contested overtime bout, D'Andre Wright made a layup with one second remaining on the clock to lift the Golden Hurricanes to the thrilling victory over the Roadrunners. Devon Agusi scored 17 points to pace UTSA, which has dropped eight of nine overall.

Keon Lewis leads the Roadrunners with 13.0 ppg. Agusi adds 11.8 ppg and Jordan Sims tallies 10.6 ppg for UTSA, which averages just 69.2 ppg.

These two teams met back on Jan. 25 when UTEP coasted to an 81-62 victory. Washburn had 19 points and Hunter and Cooper each scored 15 points for the Miners, who were in the midst of an eight-game winning streak at the time. Hyjii Thomas and Edrico McGregor each had 11 points for the Roadrunners, who have won only two game since.

Don't expect a different outcome in this game. The Miners are playing to get back on track heading in the C-USA Tournament, while the Roadrunners are just playing out their schedule. UTEP hasn't been bad on the road this season, so there isn't a reason to expect any kind of letdown.
