Recap: Western Ky vs. UNC-Wilmington

Bowling Green, KY (SportsNetwork.com) - George Fant finished with 16 points and eight rebounds as the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers secured a 73-58 victory over the UNC Wilmington Seahawks in non-conference action at E.A. Diddle Arena.

T.J. Price had 14 points, seven rebounds and six assists for Western Kentucky (2-1) and Caden Dickerson added 12 points.

Cedrick Williams netted 13 points and Addison Spruill chipped in 11 for UNC Wilmington (3-3), which had a three-game winning streak snapped.

The Hilltoppers only shot 41.2 percent from the field in the first half but they held the Seahawks to just 33.3 percent shooting, while holding a 12-6 edge from beyond the arc, to take a 32-24 lead at intermission.

Both teams improved in the second half when Western Kentucky hit 45.8 percent from the floor and the Seahawks connected on 48.1 percent. However the Hilltoppers outscored the Seahawks from beyond the arc (9-3) once again and also nailed 16-of-20 free-throw attempts to secure the win.

Western Kentucky scored 12 points off of 13 UNC Wilmington turnovers. The Seahawks had the advantage on points in the paint, 34-26.
