Recap: Western Ky vs. Eastern Ill

Bowling Green, KY (SportsNetwork.com) - George Fant poured in 20 points as the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers defeated the Eastern Illinois Panthers, 68-53, in a non-conference bout at E.A. Diddle Arena.

Fant shot 7-of-10 from the field for WKU (4-2), while T.J. Price chipped in with 13 points.

For EIU (3-4), Reggie Smith was the only player in double figures with 16 points.

After a tightly-contested first half, WKU carried a 28-24 lead into intermission. The Hilltoppers made just 37 percent of their field goal tries in the opening 20 minutes but was perfect on six free-throw attempts.

WKU improved their field goal shooting to a lofty 66.7 percent after the break, and it never surrendered its advantage.

EIU shot just 40 percent from the field and 64.7 percent from the foul line in the setback. The Panthers were also done in by a game-high 14 turnovers.
