Recap: UAB vs. TX-San Antonio

Birmingham, AL (SportsNetwork.com) - C.J. Washington recorded a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds to power the UAB Blazers to a 78-65 decision over the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners in a Conference USA tilt at Bartow Arena.

Fahro Alihodzic chipped in 17 points for UAB (12-4, 1-1 C-USA), which also received nine points, 10 boards and five assists from Rod Rucker. Robert Williams added 10 points, seven boards and five assists for the Blazers.

Jordan Sims paced UTSA (6-10, 2-1) with 14 points. Devon Agusi scored 13 points, Keon Lewis tallied 12 points on 3-of-13 shooting from the floor and Phillip Jones pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.

The Blazers led 42-36 at halftime after they connected on 5-of-12 attempts from beyond the arc in the opening 20 minutes of the contest. UTSA trailed after shooting 40 percent from the floor in the first half.

The Roadrunners were limited to just 24.2 percent efficiency from the field including a 3-of-13 clip from 3-point range in the second period. UAB extended its lead with the help of a 9-of-14 performance at the charity stripe after the break.

UTSA lost its first league game of the 2013-14 campaign despite outrebounding the hosts, 47-42.
