Recap: Southern Miss vs. TX-San Antonio

Hattiesburg, MS (SportsNetwork.com) - Daveon Boardingham finished with 19 points as the Southern Miss Golden Eagles completed an 85-56 rout of the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners in a Conference USA matchup at Reed Green Coliseum.

Aaron Brown added 15 points for the Golden Eagles (22-5, 9-3 C-USA) as they ended their two-game losing skid. Jerrold Brooks chipped in 13 points, Matt Bingaya had 12 points and Neil Watson dealt out seven assists without a turnover.

Edrico McGregor led UTSA (8-17, 4-8) with 11 points.

The Roadrunners kept it close in the opening period by shooting 42.1 percent from the floor and converting 12-of-13 attempts at the free-throw line. USM took a narrow, 32-30, lead into the intermission after it sank 48 percent of its field goal tries in the first half.

The Golden Eagles took control after the break as they held the visitors to 16 percent efficiency from the floor and knocked down 19-of-34 shots from the field. USM increased its lead to as many as 33 before arriving at the 29-point decision.

Despite the loss, UTSA enjoyed a 40-34 edge in the rebounding battle. The Golden Eagles outscored the Roadrunners, 50-14, in the paint.
