Recap: Central Mich vs. Austin Peay

Mount Pleasant, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Blake Hibbitts scored 19 points as the Central Michigan Chippewas grabbed a 90-75 win over the Austin Peay Governors at McGuirk Arena as part of the CMU Tournament.

Braylon Rayson scored 18 points off the bench, John Simons added 12 and Chris Fowler chipped in 11 for Central Michigan (2-2), which faces Montana State Saturday in the next matchup of the three-day event.

Travis Betran netted 16 points, Will Triggs dropped in 12 and Zavion Williams pitched in 10 for Austin Peay (2-2), which battles Cal State Northridge next.

Even though Central Michigan was only able to connect on 26.3 percent of its shots in the first half, including a paltry 2-of-18 showing from beyond the arc, it was able to take a 39-33 lead at halftime. The difference came at the free throw line where the Chippewas turned in a perfect 17-of-17 performance.

In the second half the Chippewas turned things around, shooting 61.3 percent from the field, including 6-of-9 from 3-point range, to pull away fro the win.

Austin Peay connected on 52.6 percent of its shots in the contest but also turned the ball over 18 times. Central Michigan had only eight turnovers.
