Recap: Samford vs. Austin Peay

Birmingham, AL (SportsNetwork.com) - Raijon Kelly led all scorers with 21 points to go along with eight assists, as the Samford Bulldogs claimed an 85-63 win over the Austin Peay Governors in non-conference play from the Hanna Center.

Isaiah Williams added 17 points and six assists, as he and Kelly combined to knock down 9-of-15 3-pointers. Tim Williams contributed 12 points and nine rebounds to help the Bulldogs (4-7) notch their first win over a Division I opponent this season.

Travis Betran led the Governors (4-5) with 13 points, while Chris Horton recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards.

APSU led by as many as 12 late in the first half, although the Bulldogs closed out the period with a 6-0 spurt to cut the deficit to 39-33 at the break.

Samford then opened the second half with a 28-7 run and never looked back, as it shot a blistering 65.4 percent over the final 20 minutes. The Governors made only 5-of-29 shots (.172) in the second stanza.

The Bulldogs held a 21-8 edge in fast break points and also enjoyed a 39-20 scoring advantage inside the paint for the game.
