Recap: SIU Edwardsville vs. Austin Peay

Edwardsville, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Rozell Nunn scored 15 points, including a put back basket with 12 seconds remaining to put his team up for good, as the SIU Edwardsville Cougars defeated the Austin Peay Governors, 71-67, in Ohio Valley Conference action at the Vadalabene Center.

For the Cougars (5-13, 2-3 OVC), Kris Davis and Donivine Stewart each finished with 10 points.

Chris Horner posted a double-double for the Governors (8-10, 2-2) with a game- high 20 points to go along with 11 rebounds, while Will Triggs added 17 points and Damarius Smith chipped in with 11.

Austin Peay shot 56.5 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes of the contest. SIUE made 48.4 percent of its field goal tries before the break as the teams went into intermission tied at 34.

After the break, both sides continued to shoot the ball well. The Cougars hit on 50 percent of their field goal tries, including 4-of-11 from beyond the arc. The Governors shot 49 percent from the field but just 2-of-9 from 3-point distance. Trailing 67-66, Nunn scored the go-ahead basket after pulling down an offensive rebound off a Stewart missed 3-pointer, as the Cougars scored the final five points of the game, part of a 13-1 run to end the contest.

SIUE forced 22 turnovers and converted them into 22 points. The Governors had the edge on the boards, outrebounding the Cougars, 35-22.
