Recap: Austin Peay vs. Eastern Ill

Clarksville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Ed Dyson scored 24 points and ripped down 11 rebounds to lead the Austin Peay Governors to an 88-83 victory over the Eastern Illinois Panthers in Ohio Valley Conference action at the Dunn Center.

Travis Betran added 23 points for Austin Peay (11-14, 5-6 OVC). Zavion Williams contributed 14 points and Will Triggs chipped in 10.

Sherman Blanford posted an impressive double-double with career-highs of 32 points and 18 rebounds for Eastern Illinois (9-16, 6-7), which has lost back- to-back games. Dylan Chatman tacked on 19 points and seven assists and Jake Verhagen tallied 12 points on 4-of-6 from 3-point range.

Austin Peay led, 40-37, at halftime after shooting 54.5 percent from the floor with perfect efforts from beyond the arc (4-of-4) and the free-throw line (12-of-12). Eastern Illinois stayed close despite shooting 40.7 percent, by registering six triples.

The Governors closed out the victory by shooting 59.1 percent from the floor, while outscoring the Panthers, 19-1, from the free-throw line in the second period.

The Panthers lost despite having 19 more field goal attempts than Austin Peay.
