Recap: Western Ill vs. Eastern Ill

Macomb, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Adam Link was the lone double-digit scorer on the night for either team as he dropped in 12 points for the Western Illinois Leathernecks during their 60-32 win over the Eastern Illinois Panthers in non-conference action.

Link shot 6-of-11 from the floor for the Leathernecks (3-4) as they won their second straight and the third in the last four outings. Tate Stensgaard, Mike Miklusak and Mohamed Conde all tallied eight points in the victory.

The Panthers (3-5) saw their skid reach three games as Josh Piper emerged as the leading scorer off the bench with a grand total of just five points.

EIU fell behind immediately and never gave the Leathernecks much trouble as the visitors shot only 25.9 percent from the floor in the first half, including 1-of-9 behind the 3-point line. Thanks to a modest 48.5 percent effort from the field, WIU grabbed a commanding 37-17 advantage at the break.

In the second half both teams had their struggles from the field, with the Panthers converting a grand total of just five field goals and 1-of-7 on the perimeter in the dismal showing.

Outscored in the paint by a 36-12 margin, Eastern Illinois turned the ball over 19 times and shot an abysmal 12-of-50 from the floor on the night.
