Recap: Murray State vs. Eastern Ill

Murray, KY (SportsNetwork.com) - Jeffery Moss tallied 18 points as the Murray State Racers earned a 72-60 victory over the Eastern Illinois Panthers in an Ohio Valley Conference matchup at CFSB Center.

T.J. Sapp came off the bench to score 13 points and grab six rebounds for Murray State (16-9, 11-2 OVC). Jarvis Williams chipped in 12 points with eight boards, and Jonathan Fairell contributed 11 in the win. It was the third victory in a row for the Racers.

Sherman Blanford led all scorers in the game with 26 points for Eastern Illinois (9-17, 6-8), adding eight rebounds to his stat line. Chris Olivier notched 14 points in the loss. It was the defeat third in a row for the Panthers.

Murray State hit on 47.8 percent of its field goal tries in the first half, adding 7-of-11 from the free-throw line, to take a 32-27 lead into the intermission. Eastern Illinois made 42.3 percent of its shots in the frame.

The Racers improved to 55 percent shooting in the second half, netting 3-of-6 from deep and 15-of-21 from the charity stripe. The Panthers connected on 40 percent from the floor, but hit only one of their six 3-point attempts and fell further behind in the period.

Murray State had the edge from the free-throw line, 22-16, and outscored the Panthers from 3-point distance, 18-6. EIU won the battle in bench points, 21-13.
