Recap: Akron vs. Detroit
Akron, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Demetrius Treadwell had a double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds, as the Akron Zips made easy work of the Detroit Titans, 79-60, in a non-conference tilt at James A. Rhodes Arena.
Nyles Evans scored 14 points for the Zips (5-2). Jake Kretzer added 11 points, while Quincy Diggs chipped in 10 points and seven assists.
Anton Wilson led the Titans (5-7) with 16 points. Juwan Howard, Jr. scored 13 points and Evan Bruinsma added 12. Ugochukwu Njoku brought down nine boards.
Akron shot a miserable 23.1 percent from the floor and made 2-of-9 from 3- point range in the first half. Detroit was able to take a 30-21 lead into the break despite only shooting 37.9 percent from the field itself.
The Zips caught fire in the second half, draining 71.4 percent of their field goal attempts, including 9-of-12 from beyond the arc. Detroit only shot 34.4 percent from the field after intermission as it quickly fell behind.
Despite losing, Detroit held a 22-4 advantage in points off turnovers.
Akron's bench outscored Detroit's reserves, 43-21. The Zips also outrebounded the Titans, 44-29.Game Notes
