Recap: Jacksonville St vs. SIU Edwardsville

Jacksonville, AL (SportsNetwork.com) - Jamal Hunter recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Jacksonville State Gamecocks, who beat the SIU Edwardsville Cougars, 61-52, in an Ohio Valley Conference tilt at Pete Mathews Coliseum.

Hunter also had seven blocks for the Gamecocks (8-11, 2-2 OVC), who have won three of their last five games. Brian Williams and D.J. Felder contributed 15 and 14 points, respectively.

Donivine Stewart scored 17 points for the Cougars (4-12, 1-2), who have lost five of their last seven contests. He was the team's only double-digit scorer.

The Cougars were the slightly more consistent team from the field in the first half, shooting 42.9 percent to their opponent's 40.7 percent. They led 29-26 at halftime.

The second half was not nearly as kind to the Cougars, who shot only 29.2 percent from the floor and 5-of-10 at the line. The Gamecocks, with a 48 percent mark from the field, overcame their first-half deficit to grab the victory.

The Gamecocks outscored SIUE in the paint, 32-22.
