Recap: George Mason vs. Rhode Island

Fairfax, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Sherrod Wright scored 16 points to lead the George Mason Patriots to a 61-54 victory over the Rhode Islands Rams in non- league action at the Patriot Center.

Wright hit 7-of-15 shots from the floor for George Mason (5-2), which also got 13 points from Marko Gujanicic.

Xavier Munford scored 13 points and Gilvydas Biruta chipped in 12 for Rhode Island (6-3).

In the first half the Patriots used five additional field goal tries to take a 33-31 lead at the break despite shooting 37.9 percent from the floor.

After the break the Patriots improved to 47.6 percent shooting, while limiting the Rams to a 30.8 percent effort, to claim the victory.

George Mason had a 36-30 edge on the boards and a slim, 17-14, advantage on points off turnovers.
