Recap: VA Commonwealth vs. George Mason

Richmond, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Treveon Graham recorded a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Virginia Commonwealth Rams to a 71-57 victory over the George Mason Patriots in the Atlantic 10 Conference opener for each team at the Siegel Center.

Briante Weber had 12 points and five steals for VCU (13-3, 1-0 A-10), which extended its winning streak to five games. Juvonte Reddic had nine points on just 2-of-8 shooting, but also contributed 14 rebounds.

Bryon Allen netted 13 points but had four turnovers for George Mason (7-8, 0-1), which has lost back-to-back games. Patrick Holloway added 11 points off the bench and Jalen Jenkins finished with a double-double (10 points, 12 rebounds).

The first half was closely contested. George Mason shot 48.5 percent from the floor but was outscored from beyond the arc (9-0) and at the free-throw line (12-2). VCU led, 35-34, at the break.

The Rams forced 10 turnovers and held the Patriots to only seven fields in the final 20 minutes to pull away for the win.

VCU forced a total of 19 turnovers and earned 18 points off of those miscues.
