Recap: SIU Edwardsville vs. Murray State

Edwardsville, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Rozell Nunn scored a season-high 20 points to lead the SIU Edwardsville Cougars to a 67-60 victory over the Murray State Racers in an Ohio Valley Conference matchup at the Vadalabene Center.

Nunn also pulled down a team-high seven rebounds for SIUE (6-13, 3-3 OVC) as it earned its second win in a row. Christian Salecich provided a spark off the bench with 13 points and three steals while Donivine Stewart tallied 11 points and six assists.

Jeffery Moss paced the Racers (10-8, 5-1) with 17 points. Dexter Field contributed 10 points and Jarvis Williams pulled down 12 rebounds. T.J. Sapp and Cameron Payne scored 11 and nine points, respectively, but combined to connect on only 4-of-24 shots from the floor.

Murray State took a 37-32 lead into the intermission after it shot 44.8 percent from the field and converted 9-of-13 attempts at the free-throw line in the opening 20 minutes of action. The Cougars hit on 42.9 percent of their field goal attempts in the first half, but went into the break trailing after allowing the visitors to go on a 5-0 run in the final minute of the period.

The Racers cooled off in the second stanza to make only 33.3 percent of their shots from the floor including just 2-of-12 from 3-point range. SIUE took control as it shot 57.7 percent of its field goal attempts. Nunn scored 12 of his points in the second half on 5-of-6 efficiency from the field.

The loss was the first in conference play for the Racers, who were outscored, 38-30, in the paint by SIUE.
