Recap: SE Missouri St vs. Northern Ky

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (SportsNetwork.com) - Lucas Nutt had a perfect night shooting en route to 21 points to lead the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks past the Northern Kentucky Norse, 79-65, in the opening round of the Cure UCD Classic at the Puerto Vallarta International Convention Center.

Nutt shot 6-of-6 from the field (including 3-of-3 from 3-point range) and 6- of-6 from the foul line for SEMO (4-2). Tyler Stone added 17 points and seven rebounds, Nino Johnson logged 10 points and nine rebounds, and Jarekious Bradley ripped down 10 boards.

For NKU (1-5), Tyler White led all scorers with 22 points, while Jordan Jackson came off the bench to net 16.

After a tightly-contested first half, SEMO carried a 38-36 advantage into the break. NKU shot a solid 46.4 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes, but SEMO was even better at 51.9 percent.

The Redhawks' field goal efficiency actually improved after halftime (.636) as their lead swelled to as many as 17.

SEMO scored 20 points off of 12 NKU turnovers. It also outscored the Norse in the paint, 30-18.
