Recap: George Washington vs. Rhode Island

Washington, D.C. (SportsNetwork.com) - Isaiah Armwood recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds as the George Washington Colonials breezed by the Rhode Island Rams, 69-56, at Charles E. Smith Center in Atlantic 10 Conference play.

Kevin Larsen notched a game-high 17 points on 8-of-10 from the field for the Colonials (13-3, 1-1 A-10), who have won eight of their last ten games. Kethan Savage and Patricio Garino both added 14 points.

Hassan Martin logged a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Rams (9-8, 0-2), who have bowed in three of their last five. T.J. Buchanan added 13 points off the bench.

The Rams had an awful first half, shooting just 24 percent from the field, including 0-of-7 from beyond the arc. At 48.5 percent from the floor the Colonials, who scored the first 12 points of the meeting, got out to a lopsided 37-13 lead at the halfway mark.

In the second half the Rams reversed their fortune, shooting an impressive 58.6 percent from the field and outscoring their opponent 43-32. It was too little, too late, however, as the Colonials kept pace with a 48.1 percent mark and held on for the win.

George Washington took control of the paint, where it out-rebounded URI 38-32 and outscored the Rams 46-38.
