Recap: Tenn Tech vs. Tennessee St

Cookeville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Patrick Miller scored a game-high 27 points, grabbed four rebounds and dished out five assists as the Tennessee State Tigers cruised to an 81-68 victory over the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles in Ohio Valley Conference play at Eblen Center.

M.J. Rhett tallied 20 points and eight rebounds for Tennessee State (3-21, 2-8 OVC). Jay Harris chipped in 11 points and four rebounds in the win. The Tigers snapped a seven-game losing streak with the victory.

Dwan Caldwell netted 22 points and pulled down eight rebounds to pace Tennessee Tech (10-13, 3-5). Dennis Ogbe and Jordan Johnson each contributed 11 points in the losing effort, while Ogbe grabbed nine rebounds. The Golden Eagles have lost four straight contests.

Tennessee State connected on 47.8 percent of its shot attempts in the first half, and went into the locker room knotted with the Golden Eagles at 36 points apiece. Tennessee Tech shot 52 percent in the first period.

The Tigers got hot in the second half, hitting 55.6 percent of their shots from the floor, and hit 23-of-31 from the free-throw line. Tennessee Tech shot 37.9 percent in the second frame.

Tennessee State had the edge in points off turnovers, 18-9, and from the free- throw line, 32-16. The Golden Eagles won the battle in points in the paint, 36-20, and in bench points, 15-8.
