Recap: Fla Gulf Coast vs. Mercer

Fort Myers, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Brett Comer scored 15 points and Jamail Jones logged a double-double as the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles defeated the Mercer Bears, 75-61, in an Atlantic Sun clash at Alico Arena.

Jones finished with 11 points and 13 rebounds for FGCU (18-10, 12-3 Atlantic Sun), which has won six of its last seven. Chase Fieler tallied 14 points in the win.

Langston Hall netted a game-high 16 points for Mercer (21-7, 12-3), which had a three-game winning streak snapped. Ike Nwamu chipped in 11 points off the bench.

Both teams struggled to find a rhythm in the first half. The Eagles shot at a 35.7 percent clip from the floor, which was enough to take a 26-23 halftime lead over the Bears, who connected on 28.6 percent of their field goal attempts in the period.

Mercer still had trouble in the second half, shooting 39.9 percent from the floor. FGCU had no such issue, heating up to 59.1 percent shooting en route to the victory.

The Eagles dominated on the boards (48-29) and outscored the Bears, 24-14, at the free-throw line.
