Recap: La Salle vs. Morgan State

St. Thomas, VI (SportsNetwork.com) - Tyrone Garland scored a game-high 25 points as the La Salle Explorers posted a 78-59 win over the Morgan State as part of the 2013 Paradise Jam.

Tyreek Duren added 15 points for the Explorers (3-2), followed by Jerrell Wright and Sam Mills with 12 points apiece. With the victory La Salle will now face Providence in the semifinal round of the tournament on Sunday night.

The Bears (0-5) were led by Ian Chiles with 14 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the floor, followed by Justin Black and Anthony Hubbard with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Morgan State led by as many as six points in the first half, but the team shot only 1-of-6 behind the 3-point line and 0-of-1 at the free-throw line as it eventually fell behind by a 32-25 score at the break.

In the second half both teams shot better than 52 percent from the field, but again the Bears struggled on the perimeter, 1-of-4, while La Salle connected on 6-of-14 from beyond the arc in order to pull away.
