Recap: Buffalo vs. Canisius

Buffalo, NY ( - Billy Baron poured in 23 points as the Canisius Golden Griffins knocked off the Buffalo Bulls, 69-55, in a non- conference meeting at the First Niagara Center.

Baron hit on 8-of-14 shots from the field for Canisius (6-3), which also got 16 points from Chris Perez and 11 off the bench from Phil Valenti. The Golden Griffins have won three-straight.

Javon McCrea tallied 13 points, Joshua Freelove tacked on 11 and Will Regan chipped in 10 for Buffalo (4-3), which had a four-game winning streak put to an end.

It was Buffalo that held a 35-26 lead at halftime. The Bulls connected on 51.9 percent of their shots from the field while limiting the Golden Griffins to just 33.3 percent shooting.

The second half was a different story as Canisius sank 55.6 percent of their field goal attempts while the Bulls cooled to 33.3 percent. The Golden Griffins also used an 11-0 scoring edge from the free-throw line to pull away for the victory.

The Golden Griffins benefited from 15 Buffalo turnovers while committing only seven themselves.
