Recap: Northern Ill vs. Buffalo

DeKalb, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Javon McCrea scored 20 points as the Buffalo Bulls defeated the Northern Illinois Huskies, 75-67, in a Mid-American Conference matchup at the NIU Convocation Center.

McCrea also pulled down nine rebounds for the Bulls (10-6, 4-2 MAC). Joshua Freelove added 13 points while Will Regan chipped in 12 points with the help of a perfect 6-for-6 showing at the free-throw line.

Aksel Bolin paced NIU (7-11, 1-5) with 17 points and seven boards. Darrell Bowie contributed 14 points on 5-of-12 shooting from the floor and also grabbed seven rebounds. Travon Baker had 12 points and five assists, but went just 2-of-11 from the field and fouled out. The loss the was third in a row for the Huskies.

NIU got off to a good start as it jumped out to a 9-2 lead by the 16:20 mark of the opening period. However, the Bulls connected on 59.1 percent of their field goal attempts in the first half to overcome the early deficit and take a 34-29 lead into the intermission.

The Huskies were limited to 27.6 percent efficiency from the floor including a 1-of-11 clip from beyond the arc in the second period. Buffalo converted 16- of-28 attempts at the charity stripe after the break to keep the hosts at bay.

The Bulls' reserves outscored NIU's bench, 21-14.
