Recap: Sacramento St vs. Idaho State

Sacramento, CA ( - Mikh McKinney scored a game-high 28 points and handed out five assists as the Sacramento State Hornets captured an 84-78 win over the Idaho State Bengals in Big Sky Conference play at the Hornets Nest.

Dylan Garrity tallied 23 points, shooting 4-of-5 behind the 3-point line, while Zach Mills and Jordan Salley both added 10 points for the Hornets (7-11, 3-6 Big Sky) as they snapped a two-game slide. Despite playing just 16 minutes off the bench, Salley also registered a game-high nine rebounds for the hosts.

The Bengals (7-11, 4-5) were led by Tomas Sanchez and Andre Hatchett with 17 points and eight assists each, the latter also pulling down eight rebounds as the team lost for the third time in four outings. Chris Hansen pitched in with 15 points, but shot just 5-of-16 from the floor and 3-of-12 beyond the arc.

Sacramento shot a blistering 69.0 percent from the field in the first half, including a stellar 8-of-10 out on the perimeter, en route to a commanding 52-27 lead at the break.

However, in the second half the Hornets nearly let it all slip away as they connected in a mere 7-of-27 (.259) from the floor and missed all five chance beyond the arc. The hosts were able to survive thanks to an 18-of-23 showing at the free-throw line.

In addition to shooting only 8-of-27 behind the 3-point line, Idaho State was also outscored 22-14 at the charity stripe.
