Recap: Montana vs. Idaho State

Missoula, MT (SportsNetwork.com) - Mario Dunn led the way with 15 points as the Montana Grizzlies edged the Idaho State Bengals, 62-61, in a Big Sky Conference battle at Dahlberg Arena.

For the Grizzlies (14-11, 9-7 Big Sky), Kareem Jamar and Jordan Gregory each finished with 12 points. Jamar added seven rebounds to his stat total.

Tomas Sanchez led the Bengals (10-15, 7-9) with 17 points, while Andre Hatchett and Chris Hansen scored 13 each and Jeffrey Solarin chipped in with 10 points and nine boards.

Montana shot 40 percent from the field in the first half, including 3-of-11 from beyond the arc. The Grizzlies scored the last four points of the period to take a 28-24 advantage into the break. Idaho State struggled from the field, hitting on 36.4 percent of its field goal tries but did connect on 3- of-7 from 3-point distance.

Both teams found their range in the second half. The Grizzlies connected on 50 percent from the field, including 4-of-9 from deep. The Bengals were even better, knocking down 57.9 percent of their field goal attempts and 3-of-7 from 3-point range. Despite that, the Bengals still trailed 61-53 with 3:38 to play, when they scored seven-straight points to make it a one-point game in the final minute. They had a chance to send the game to overtime, but Hatchett made just one of two free-throws with one second left on the clock, as the Grizzlies survived for the victory.

The teams took good care of the ball, as they combined for just 15 turnovers. The Grizzlies committed only six - all in the first half - and the Bengals just nine.
