Recap: Montana vs. Southern Utah

Missoula, MT (SportsNetwork.com) - Kareem Jamar put together a strong all- around effort as he scored 25 points, pulled down 10 rebounds and handed out seven assists as the Montana Grizzlies cruised to an 82-54 win over the Southern Utah Thunderbirds in Big Sky Conference action at Dahlberg Arena.

Jamar finished the night shooting an impressive 10-of-14 from the floor and also made three steals and blocked a shot for the Grizzlies (15-11, 10-7 Big Sky) posted a third straight win. Mike Weisner gave the group a boost off the bench with 17 points and seven rebounds, shooting 5-of-6 behind the 3-point line, while Chris Kemp pitched in 10 points in a reserve role as well.

The slumping Thunderbirds (1-26, 0-18) were paced by A.J. Hess with 13 points and eight rebounds, while Trey Kennedy chipped in 10 points as the team's losing streak reached a staggering 26 games.

Shooting just 6-of-30 from the field in the first half, SUU never truly challenged the hosts and trailed by a score of 44-21 at the break. Montana made good on not just 59.3 percent from the field in the opening period, but also 6-of-11 beyond the arc.

In the second half the Thunderbirds picked up the pace with 50 percent accuracy from the floor, but by then it was too little, too late because the hosts also shot the ball well at a 51.9 percent clip.

The last victory for SUU against another Division I foe came on Feb. 23, 2013 versus Cal State Northridge by a single point (73-72). In terms of the last conference win, SUU has gone without one since slipping by Idaho State in overtime, 81-79, back on Feb. 7, 2013.
