Recap: Montana State vs. CS-Northridge

Mount Pleasant, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Tre Hale-Edmerson made 1-of-2 free throws with 19 seconds left to lift the Cal State Northridge Matadors over the Montana State Bobcats, 74-73, in the opening round of the CMU Tournament.

Stephen Maxwell had 21 points and seven rebounds for the Matadors (2-2), who went 30-of-40 from the foul line. Stephan Hicks and Josh Greene added 16 and 13 points, respectively.

Calen Coleman ended with 18 points for the Bobcats (0-3), who went 9-of-25 from beyond the arc. Marcus Colbert and Flavien Davis tallied 17 and 14 points, respectively.

Trailing 71-60 with less than six minutes to play, Montana State went on a 13-1 run to take the lead. Colbert tallied five points during the spurt that Antonio Biglow capped with two free throws for a 73-72 edge.

Maxwell went 1-of-2 from the line with 43 seconds remaining to tie the game. Davis had his shot blocked by Hale-Edmerson, who made the first of two free throws to give the Matadors the lead.

Biglow and Davis both missed shots in the final two seconds.

Cal State Northridge led for most of the first half and took a 44-37 margin into the locker room.
