Recap: Elon vs. Appalachian St

Elon, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Ryley Beaumont paced four teammates in double figures with 16 points, as the Elon Phoenix held off the Appalachian State Mountaineers, 75-66, in Southern Conference action at Alumni Gym.

Beaumont shot 7-of-11 from the field for Elon (8-8, 1-1 SoCon), which snapped a two-game losing streak. Lucas Troutman tallied 13 points, seven rebounds and three blocks, while Ryan Winters (14 points) and Jack Isenbarger (12) were both solid in reserve roles.

For ASU (4-10, 0-1), Jay Canty was 8-of-11 from the floor on his way to a game-high 20 points, while Tevin Baskin and Frank Eaves finished with 17 and 11 points, respectively.

Elon dominated the first half, outshooting ASU from the field, 65.4 percent to 28.6 percent, as it carried a comfortable 35-20 lead into intermission.

The Mountaineers made a late push, using a 7-0 run to bring their deficit to just six with 40 seconds remaining, but the Phoenix made 6-of-6 at the foul line to close the game out.

Elon held a firm advantage on the glass, outrebounding ASU, 35-21, which helped make up for a lackluster showing from beyond the arc (3-of-13).
