Recap: Davidson vs. Appalachian St

Davidson, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - De'Mon Brooks scored 19 points to carry the Davidson Wildcats to a 78-66 victory over the Appalachian State Mountaineers in a Southern Conference collision at Belk Arena.

Tyler Kalinoski contributed 16 points for Davidson (7-10, 3-0 SoCon) and Chris Czerapowicz added 14 points. Tom Droney handed out seven assists.

Jay Canty netted a game-high 23 points for Appalachian State (4-12, 0-3), which has lost four straight. Tab Hamilton and Frank Eaves tallied 11 points apiece, Tevin Baskin chipped in 10 before fouling out and Michael Obacha collected 10 rebounds.

At halftime the Wildcats led by a score of 35-34. The Wildcats connected on 48 percent from the field in the period, while Appalachian State was just behind at 46.2 percent.

The Wildcats heated up to 66.7 percent shooting, including a 3-of-3 showing from beyond the arc, in the final 20 minutes to pull away for the win.

Appalachian State lost despite a 31-27 edge on the boards. Davidson had 15 assists compared to six for the Mountaineers.
