Recap: Portland State vs. Northern Colorado

Portland, OR (SportsNetwork.com) - Gary Winston scored 19 points and handed out six assists as the Portland State Vikings cruised to an 80-57 win over the Northern Colorado Bears in Big Sky Conference play at the Stott Center.

Also scoring in double figures for Portland State (10-8, 5-4 Big Sky) were Marcus Hall and Kyle Richardson with 17 and 16 points, respectively, as the team posted a third straight win and the fifth in the last six outings.

The Bears (13-5, 7-2) were paced by Derrick Barden with his double-double consisting of 19 points and 11 rebounds, followed by Tim Huskisson with 10 points as the team had a three-game win streak come to an end.

PSU scored the first points of the night and never looked back, converting 60.9 percent from the floor, including 4-of-7 behind the 3-point line, en route to a commanding 43-22 advantage at the break. The Bears knocked down only eight field goals through the first 20 minutes of action, a mere 1-of-10 beyond the arc.

In the second half the Vikings nailed 50 percent of their field goal chances and 5-of-12 on the perimeter in order to claim the lopsided decision.

UNC came away with 17 offensive rebounds on the night, but shot just 11-of-20 at the free-throw line.
