Recap: Elon vs. Citadel

Elon, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Lucas Troutman scored 19 points and brought down nine rebounds as the Elon Phoenix defeated The Citadel Bulldogs 74-65 in a Southern Conference matchup at Alumni Gym.

Jack Isenbarger scored 15 points for the Phoenix (9-8, 2-1 SoCon). Sebastian Koch chipped in 14 points while Austin Hamilton had six assists.

Matt Van Scyoc led the Bulldogs (4-14, 0-3) with 16 points. Brian White scored 13 points with eight rebounds as Quinton Marshall added 11 points and Ashton Moore chipped in 10 and five assists. This is the sixth straight loss for The Citadel.

Elon made 45.2 percent of its shots from the floor including 6-of-18 from 3- point range in the first half. The Phoenix took a 36-29 lead into the intermission. The Citadel shot an impressive 57.1 percent from the floor but had 10 fewer field goal attempts than Elon.

The Phoenix struggled in the second half by only making 35.5 percent of their shots from the field but were helped by going 13-of-18 from the free-throw line. The Bulldogs made 45.5 percent of their field goal tries but were unable to close the gap.

The home team took advantage of The Citadel's mistakes by outscoring the Bulldogs 19-3 on points off turnovers.
